Brian Smith

Play-By-Play Commentator

Brian Smith became the television play-by-play announcer for the Philadelphia Wings in March of 2019. He assists the Wings with game notes preparation, coordination of select gameday logistics, and other special projects. Smith also serves as the Director of Broadcasting & Content for the Philadelphia Flyers. Smith is in his 20th season with Comcast Spectacor. He joined the company in 2004 as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers’ PR/New Media department, and a year later moved to the PR staff of the Philadelphia Phantoms, the Flyers’ primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League that now plays in the Lehigh Valley. He moved to the Flyers staff in 2009. A native of Wilmington, DE, Smith began his career in the United Hockey League in 2000 where he spent three seasons handling radio play-by-play and PR duties first for the Kalamazoo Wings and then the Flint Generals.  He has also previously worked in news and talk radio at WDEL in Wilmington, WTOP in Washington, DC, and as a freelance sportswriter for the Wilmington News Journal. Smith is a 2000 graduate of the University of Delaware, where he is a member of the Hall of Fame at campus radio station WVUD.  He resides in Wilmington with his wife Mary and his children Zachary, Nolan and Madeleine.

Scott Gabrielsen

Color Commentator

Scott Gabrielsen returns to the booth for his 25th year as Color Commentator for the Philadelphia Wings. Since his retirement as a player for the Wings in 1998, he has been an analyst for lacrosse broadcasts at all levels on networks such as NBC Sports Philadelphia, Comcast SportsNet, PHL17, CW Philly, CN8, HDTV and MSG. Scott brings unique knowledge and perspective to the game having been a player in the National Lacrosse League for 10 years for the Philadelphia Wings, winning five (5) Championship titles in 1989, 1990, 1994,1995 and 1998. He was Wings Team Captain from 1994 until his retirement in 1998. Scott is a former high school and college lacrosse All-American and has been inducted into five (5) Hall of Fames that include PA, NJ & VT Chapters of US Lacrosse, University of Vermont, and Princeton High School. Gabrielsen has been a Coach both indoor and outdoor with the AILA, the Junior Wings and Mesa Lacrosse club, one of the nation’s premiere lacrosse clubs made up of local elite high school talent from the Philadelphia area. Scott and his wife Cathy are co-founders of Connect Thru Cancer www.connectthrucancer.org formerly CuddleMyKids.org, based on their own experience with cancer. The 501c3 nonprofit is now in its 15th year of operation helping families with cancer. Scott resides in West Chester, Pa with his wife Cathy their two sons, Jimmy and Cole.

Mary McGuinness

Floor Reporter

Mary McGuinness returns to the Wings broadcast team as the Floor Reporter after making her debut last season. She will also serve as a Contributor to the Wings’ social and digital media platforms throughout the 2023-24 season. Mary has worked for Comcast Spectacor since 2018, beginning her journey as a Public Relations Intern for the Philadelphia Flyers during which she also assisted the Philadelphia Wings by managing the penalty box during home games. Mary currently works on the Comcast Spectacor Corporate Partnerships team as an Account Manager. McGuinness graduated from St. Joseph’s University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and enjoys golfing in her free time.
