Wings Complete Trade For John Ranagan, Former NLL Teammate Of The Year

(Philadelphia, PA, November 24, 2020) – The Philadelphia Wings have acquired defenseman John Ranagan and a 4th round pick in the 2023 NLL Draft in exchange for defenseman Matt Marinier and a 2023 2nd round pick.

“We are extremely excited to be adding John to our team,” said Wings Head Coach and General Manager Paul Day. “He is a big, fast player that can help our transition game. More importantly, he will bring another positive veteran presence into our locker room.”

A 29-year-old defenseman from Yorktown, New York, Ranagan has 95 games of NLL experience over parts of six seasons with the original Wings/New England (2014 & 2016), Georgia (2017-2019) and New York (2020). Ranagan won the Champions Cup with Georgia in 2017 alongside Wings captain Kiel Matisz, and was named the NLL Teammate of the Year with the Swarm in 2019.

Prior to turning pro, Ranagan played a four-year career at Johns Hopkins University as a midfielder, where he was a First Team All-American in 2011 and a Second Team All-American in 2012.
