Wings Look for Revenge Against Calgary

With just 1 win in their last 5 games, the Wings sit at 13th place in the NLL standings with half of their season remaining. Now with 6 games ahead in the month of March, including 5 home games, it’s do or die for the Wings as they look to stay in the hunt contending for a coveted spot in the NLL Playoffs. The March to May starts this Saturday as the Wings welcome the Calgary Roughnecks to town for the second half of their home-at-home series. The Wings faltered in their first meeting last Saturday in Calgary, as a close game through the end of the third quarter got away from the Wings when they were outscored 6-2 in the fourth. The Wings haven’t been playing particularly bad this season, but have had trouble putting together a full 60 minutes of lacrosse week in and week out. At the highest level, where one turnover or loose ball can decide a game, it’s hard to come out with a win when you aren’t firing on all cylinders throughout the game.

This Saturday, the Wings will be looking to climb back into the hunt with their first win at home on the season. They currently sits at 13th in the standings. But with a win, the Wings can climb to as high as 11th if the Desert Dogs lose on Friday night in Vegas. However, with a loss, the Wings could drop to 14th place. One thing to keep in mind with the Wings in the second half of the season, is that they have only played 9 of their 18 regular season games so far. Where some teams like Georgia (6-6) have already played 12 games, the Wings control their own destiny. If they can go on a run we could see the Wings in a playoff position by the end of the month. The defense will be getting some re-enforcements as the Wings first selection from the 2023 NLL Draft Mitch Armstrong will likely return to the lineup after a long wait on the injured reserve. Captain Blaze Riorden will surely be looking to put on a show and give Wings fans their first win at home this season.

Saturday is Marvel Super Hero™️ Day at Wells Fargo Center! The Wings will be donning special Wings / Black Panther jerseys that will be raffled off after the game to benefit Wings Charities. There will also be a ton of activities going on throughout the arena, including a petting zoo, face painters, an inflatable obstacle course, a bubble magician, critters, character appearances from Spider-Man and Black Panther, and more!

The first 3,000 fans in the arena will receive a Special Edition Wings / Marvel Legends of Lax Comic book, so be sure to arrive early! Face off is set for 1PM. If you haven’t already, get your tickets now!
