Holden Cattoni caught fire for the Wings during that recent three-game, eight-day stretch, recording a hat trick in each contest and a total of 21 points (10G, 11A) during that run. He also had a seven-point game at Georgia on March 16, recording a goal and six assists. Cattoni has only appeared in 11 games this season but has made an impact in those contests, gathering 57 points on 23 goals and 35 assists.
Joe Resetarits has paced the Wings’ offense this season, having scored a goal in 15 consecutive games entering this contest. He has hat tricks in consecutive games and a total of five on the season, and he’s picked up five or more points in nine of the last 11 contests, with 62 points in that stretch. Resetarits became the NLL’s all-time leading scorer among American-born players Dec. 29 when he passed Casey Powell with his 675th career point. Resetarits is in his 11th season and his second with Philadelphia.
Ben McIntosh has 47 points over his last 12 games and has at least three points in 10 of his last 11. He had his third hat trick of the season on March 10 against Panther City. An eight-point contest (3G, 5A) Jan. 27 vs. San Diego tied his single-game high for points as a member of the Wings (4G/4A, 3/4/23 vs NY) and set a new single-game high for assists. McIntosh has appeared in 49 of a possible 51 games as a Wing and has at least a point in 48 of those contests.
Sam LeClair posted his second hat trick of the season against Saskatchewan on March 28 and added a pair of assists vs. Buffalo. He had four assists vs. Vancouver to tie his career high for points in a game, which he’d previously set on December 29 vs. Halifax (2G, 2A). LeClair also had a first-half hat trick March 2 vs. Calgary. LeClair has 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points in 14 games this year and has at least a point in all of those contests. He had 11 goals and six assists for 17 points in 17 games last season.
Blaze Riorden’s six points on March 28 vs. Saskatchewan were enough to move him past Kevin Crowley to lead the franchise in scoring lead since rejoining the league in 2018. Riorden now has 250 points in his Wings career (109G, 141A), surpassing Crowley’s 242 (80G, 162A).
Vancouver’s 21 goals on March 23 established a new Wings franchise record for goals allowed in a game. Vancouver also held the previous mark, 19, set in a visit to Philadelphia in a 19-12 contest back in the Wings’ first season.
The Wings are 4-3 on the road this year but finished their home schedule with a record of 1-8. They have a similar goals-per-game in both circumstances – 99 goals in nine home games (11.0 avg.) and 80 goals in seven road games (11.43 avg.) – but they allowed 131 goals at home this season (14.6 avg.) compared to just 78 so far on the road (11.1 avg).
Buffalo fired 67 shots on March 30, tying a franchise record for shots against in a game that had been set earlier in the season by Halifax. Buffalo held the previous mark prior to this season of 66 from a game on March 8, 2019. Zach Higgins made 52 saves in the Halifax game, which came up three short of his franchise record of 55 that he’s done twice before, with the last such occasion coming on 3/6/23 vs. Toronto. Higgins made 50 saves Feb. 2 against the Thunderbirds and also has three 48-save games, one of which was the Buffalo contest.
The Wings signed Nick Rowlett on January 10 to take over the team’s faceoff duties and he made his debut Jan. 27 vs. San Diego, going 12-for-24 against Trevor Baptiste, the team’s previous faceoff man who departed in an offseason trade. Rowlett went 16-for-40 in his first two games, which happened to come against Baptiste and Halifax’s Jake Withers, before turning in a 14-for-22 night in Las Vegas. Rowlett had his best game of the season vs. Vancouver, going 23-for-37 (62.2 pct). He is now 132 for 263 (50.2 pct) on the season, a notable improvement over the team’s 19 percent win rate over the first five games of the season before Rowlett’s arrival.
