Wings Teach Lacrosse to Girls at Special Event at Citizens Bank Park

The Wings never stop their efforts in continuing to grow the game of lacrosse. Last week, the Philadelphia 76ers, Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, Union and Wings teamed up to host a “Philadelphia Sports Girls Initiative” event for females 8 to 12 years old. This event gave participants the chance to play six different sports – including basketball, football, hockey, baseball, soccer and lacrosse – all on the same day. The event kicked off with opening ceremonies in the yard, and then the girls were divided into groups where they had the chance to try each sport with representatives from each organization.

Campers had the chance to… shoot baskets with the 76ers, play street hockey with the Flyers, practice football drills with the Eagles, take some swings and practice throwing with the Phillies, play soccer with the Union, and practice the basics of lacrosse with the Wings!

Mitch Jones and George Downey had some help from Wingston and a few members of the Wings front office as they taught the girls the basics of ground balls, cradling, passing, and shooting!
