Wings lose to the Rock in Hamilton

The Wings looked good out of the gate in Hamilton, and they were tied at 3 after the first quarter. But after some misfortune in the form of unsuccessful challenges and unlucky bounces, the Wings found themselves down 8-4 headed into the half.

The second half was a battle for the Wings as they won the third quarter, 2-1, but 2 Rock goals early in the 4th seemed to take all of the momentum out of a potential comeback. The Wings ultimately fell to the Rock, 12-7.

Mitch Jones was one of the few bright spots on the offensive side of the floor throughout the night as he scored 5 goals. Joe Resetarits was the only other Wings player with more than 2 points on the night, he had 4 assists.

The Wings are still in the hunt for a playoff spot, but they no longer control their own destiny. They will need to win out and get some help from the outcomes of other games for a chance to play in this year’s postseason. The Wings next game is next Sunday against Albany.
