Wings Drop First Half of Back-to-Back Against Calgary

The Wings looked to continue their winning ways against the Roughnecks in Calgary on Saturday night, but a slow second half offensively saw the Wings drop their 6th game on the season.

It took almost 10 minutes for a team to break the deadlock in Calgary, and it was Isaiah Davis-Allen who did so in transition with 5:27 to go in the first. The Roughnecks rattled off the next three goals before Holden Cattoni beat the buzzer to get the score to 3-2 at the end of the first quarter. The Wings followed up the first with their best quarter of the night, outscoring the Roughnecks 5-3 and taking a 7-6 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The third quarter was a defensive battle as both the Wings and the Roughnecks only scored 2 goals, and the Wings took a 1 goal lead into the final frame. Under a minute into the 4th, Holden Cattoni secured his hat-trick to give the Wings a 10-8 lead, but the Roughnecks scored 6 of the final 7 goals of the game to secure the win.

The Wings were led offensively by Mitch Jones (2G, 5A) while getting big contributions on offense from Joe Resetarits (2G, 4A), Holden Cattoni (3G, 2A), and Ben McIntosh (2G, 3A). Taite Cattoni (1G,1A) and IDA (1G) also scored. Resetarits hit another career milestone as he surpassed 700 career points to build on his legendary resume. It was a homecoming game for a few Alberta-born Wings, as brothers Holden and Taite Cattoni combined for 7 points. Jackson Ganton scooped up 3 loose balls, blocked a shot, and caused 2 turnovers in his first NLL game in his home province. Nick Rowlett bounced back from a slow first-half at the faceoff dot to almost split the faceoffs on the night (13-29). Zach Higgins made 38 saves on 51 shots. The Wings were outshot 52 to 47 on the night.

The Wings are back in action against the Roughnecks next Saturday back in Philly as they look to avenge their loss this week and win their first game at home this season. Get your tickets for next saturday’s game now!
