The Vancouver Warriors opened things up with a big second quarter and ended up with a 17-10 win over the Philadelphia Wings in the final game of the year at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
It was a stingy first quarter that saw the Warriors finish with a 2-1 lead, but Vancouver then scored the next five goals to open up a 7-1 advantage. Philadelphia bagged two more before halftime to cut the lead to four.
The Wings got within three at 8-5 in the third quarter, but the first of two three-goal Vancouver runs in the second half quelled that momentum. The first run made it an 11-5 contest, and then the Warriors scored the final three goals of the game to take the 17-10 final.
Sam LeClair and Lukas Nielsen each had five-point games for the Wings with two goals and three assists apiece. Landon Sinfield and Dalton Young each scored a pair, while Kyle Jackson and Travis Longboat contributed the other two goals.
Liam Patten led the Wings defense with 11 loose ball pickups. Nick Damude and Deacan Knott split time in net, with Damude stopped 22 of 29 shots faced in 28:03 and Knott turning away 16 of 26 in 31:57.
