Wings Announce 2023-2024 Season Schedule

PHILADELPHIA WINGS ANNOUNCE 2023-2024 SEASON SCHEDULE

Wings fans to experience never-before-seen matchups at the New Wells Fargo Center

National Lacrosse League introduces new scheduling format featuring “Unified Standings”

PHILADELPHIA (September 26, 2023) – Today, the Philadelphia Wings and the National Lacrosse League released the team’s schedule for the 2023-2024 season. The Wings will begin their season on the road against the New York Riptide on Saturday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. The Wings home opener will take place on Saturday, December 16 at 1 p.m. against the Albany FireWolves at the New Wells Fargo Center. Wings single-game tickets are on sale now at wingslax.com.

Earlier today, the National Lacrosse League announced several new structural formats, most prominently a single-table, “Unified Standings,” in which teams are ranked regardless of geography. It is the most significant and impactful change to the NLL schedule format in League history. Starting with the 2023-2024 season, scheduling will be rooted in competitive equitability and parity, with each team playing every other team once and bringing Wings fans the opportunity to experience never-before-seen matchups at the New Wells Fargo Center.

Also new this season, the NLL schedule will include four additional “flex” games that preserve established rivalries that fans know and love. Every single game, every weekend, will have playoff atmosphere and implications on the path to the Championship, while guaranteeing that the best eight teams at the end of the regular season have an opportunity to win the NLL Cup.

“We are looking forward to competing against the best talent from across the entire league and feel good about how we stack up,” said Wings Head Coach and General Manager Paul Day. “I am very excited for our fans to give teams that have yet to play at Wells Fargo Center a proper Philly welcome!”

The Wings 2023-2024 roster features an elite lineup of top talent bolstered by some key additions made during the off-season. Key returners include Mitch Jones, Blaze Riorden and Joe Resetarits.

After joining the Wings via trade last season, Jones finished 3rd overall in points in the NLL with 44 goals and 82 assists for 126 points. He ranked second in assists and T-7th in goals. He reached 200 career goals on April 2 vs. Rochester, 500 career points on April 23 vs. Albany, and 300 career assists on April 29 vs. Rochester. Riorden joined the Wings for their inaugural season in 2018 and finished this past season with 34 goals and 39 assists, tallying a career-best 73 points overall. Resetarits joined the Wings last season after finishing as the NLL’s leading scorer in 2022-23. He finished his first season with the team with 41 goals and 69 assists, tallying 110 points overall.

This season, fans can also look forward to cheering on new Wings players acquired during the offseason, as Wings management made arguably the most significant trades of the NLL offseason welcoming Holden Cattoni, Scott Dominey, and Mike McCannell to the organization along with a first-round pick in this year’s Entry Draft. Cattoni joins the Wings offense after scoring 40 goals last season for Rochester. Defensemen Scott Dominey spent two seasons apiece with the New York Riptide and Toronto Rock, recording 26 goals and 14 assists in 45 career games. McCannell was the 5th overall pick in the 2021 Entry Draft, and with the 22nd overall selection in this year’s Draft the Wings selected defenseman Mitchell Armstrong (Brock University/St. Catherine’s).

Single game tickets starting at only $20/game and season ticket memberships are available now at www.wingslax.com.
