Wings Acquire Warriors’ Leading Scorer Mitch Jones

Today, Philadelphia Wings General Manager and Head Coach Paul Day made a move that dealt defensemen Steph Charbonneau and some draft picks to the Vancouver Warriors in exchange for Vancouver’s leading point scorer, Mitch Jones. The full details of the trade are outlined below.

PHI Receives

Mitch Jones

VAN Receives

Steph Charbonneau

2023 1st Round Draft Selection

2024 2nd Round Draft Selection (From San Diego)

Through 7 games with Vancouver this season, Mitch Jones has led the Vancouver warriors in points with 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points. Jones is also a major asset in terms of possession, he has snagged 42 loose balls so far this season.

When asked about the trade, this is what Paul Day had to say:

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for our team to be able to pick up Mitch Jones. Jonesy is a number one lefty forward and is a big, strong, athletic player that makes everyone around him better. He will instantly make us a better team and be a major asset on the powerplay.”

When asked about the departure of Steph Charbonneau, this is what Paul said:

“Charbs is a true professional and has been great Wing from day one in the new era of the Wings. We thank him for everything he did and wish him the best of luck in Vancouver.”

Mitch Jones is expected to slot into the lineup right away and play this weekend as the Wings host the Albany Firewolves this Saturday, February 4th at 7PM. Be sure to get your tickets at wingslax.com! If you can’t make the game, be sure to watch the game on NBC Sports Philadelphia or ESPN+.
