Player Transaction Recap – July

The Wings front office was busy during the month of July, signing twelve players to new deals.

Paul Day started off the month strong on July 6th by signing 2015 NLL Rookie of the year and former Drexel standout Ben McIntosh to a 3 year contract extension.

“Ben is a top-notch player and person,” said Paul Day, head coach and general manager of the Philadelphia Wings. “With two previous NLL championships, he knows how to win and will bring that knowledge and skill to the Wings. He has Philadelphia roots as a Drexel grad and is dedicated to being active in the Philadelphia lacrosse community and growing the sport in this region.”

On July 14th, Day bolstered the Wings roster with some youth by signing 2020 Draft Picks Bryan Costabile, Ben French, John Kit, Marc Pion, Jackson Suboch, and Cole Williams to one year deals.

Day also made a point to add some veteran leadership to the roster, signing Corey Small to a one year deal and John Ranagan to a three year deal.
Small, a 34 year old lefty forward, is a 10 year NLL veteran who has averaged over 4 points per game over his 161 game career. Ranagan, a 30 year old defender, started his career in Philadelphia with the Wings in 2013 and provides additional veteran experience to the defensive half of the floor.

Paul Day rounded out the month of July by bringing back three current Philadelphia Wings: Kevin Crowley, Anthony Joaquim, and Ryan Wagner. Crowley and Wagner were brought back on one-year deals, while Joaquim signed a two year deal. Joaquim and Wagner are staples on the defensive end of the floor for defensive coach Ian Rubel, while forward Kevin Crowley remains one of the NLL’s most prolific offensive players.
