Philadelphia Wings Sign Offensive Force Joe Resetarits in Free Agency

PHILADELPHIA (August 16, 2022) – Today, the Philadelphia Wings announced they have signed free agent and offensive force Joe Resetarits to a three-year deal. The 2022 National Lacrosse League leading scorer joins the Wings for his 10th NLL season.

“I am beyond excited to join the Philadelphia Wings and do everything I can to bring a championship to Philadelphia,” said Resetarits. “They are dedicated to winning a championship and I’m looking forward to battling alongside my new teammates, getting to know the storied fanbase, and officially putting on the Wings jersey.”

The Hamburg, NY native led the league last season in goals (47) and ranked third in points (111) en route to being named First Team All-League for the first time in his career and the first American player to make the list since 2010. Resetarits was offered a Franchise Tag by the Albany Firewolves but entered free agency this month.

“We’re thrilled to welcome a player and teammate of Joe’s caliber to the Wings organization,” said Marc Zamarin, President of the Philadelphia Wings. “Our goal is to win a championship for our fans, and we believe this is another significant step in that direction.”

Resetarits was drafted 6th overall out of the University of Albany in the 2012 NLL Draft by Calgary where he played one season before being traded to his hometown Buffalo Bandits. He played two seasons in Buffalo before being traded to the Rochester Knighthawks where he found success playing for a coaching staff that featured current Wings Head Coach and General Manager, Paul Day, as an assistant coach.

“We identified last season that our need to improve our offense was adding speed and a player that can drive the net as well as open up the middle of the floor. Joe Resetarits is a dynamic offensive player who checks all of these boxes as a finalist for the NLL MVP last season,” said Wings General Manager and Head Coach Paul Day. “Joe was one the hardest players to stop last season and brings a blue collar attitude and team-first mentally. This is a big day for the Philadelphia Wings and I can’t wait to get started.”

Resetarits joined the Albany Firewolves in 2019 where he was a key contributor in points over the past three seasons. He has recorded 246 goals and 328 assists for a total of 574 points in 161 career games played and is the only American-born player to ever record 100 points in a season, which he has done twice (2018 & 2022).
