Philadelphia Wings Hire Jeff McComb as Offensive Coordinator

Today, the Philadelphia Wings announced they have hired Jeff McComb as Offensive Coordinator. McComb will direct the team’s offensive game plan and join General Manager and Head Coach Paul Day, Assistant General Manager Landon Miller, and Defensive Coordinator Ian Rubel behind the Wings bench beginning with the 2022-2023 season.

“Jeff is a proven winner,” said Wings General Manager and Head Coach Paul Day. “His tenure as the offensive coordinator for the Saskatchewan Rush proved to be successful as the Rush were one of the most innovative and creative offenses in the NLL. We are confident that Jeff will bring a winning culture and championship pedigree that will take the Wings to the next level. I have known Jeff for over 35 years, and I am excited to be able to bring his talents to the Philadelphia Wings.”

McComb was a member of the Saskatchewan Rush staff from 2014 to 2022, which included being named Head Coach prior to the 2021-2022 season. During that period, he helped lead a successful Rush offense to a top 3 ranking in goals per game in 2015 and 2018. Throughout his tenure, McComb also led the Rush to three NLL championships (2015, 2016, 2018) and coached current Wings star Ben McIntosh.

“I had the privilege of playing for Jeff for my first five seasons in the NLL. He is an outstanding coach and person,” said McIntosh. “He is a mastermind when it comes to offense and just in general one of the smartest lacrosse minds in the game. I have already learned so much from Jeff and feel very lucky to be able to play for him again and continue to learn and understand the game as well as he does.”

McComb will look to lead a Wings offense that was bolstered by the late-season additions of forwards Kyle Jackson and Sam LeClair and propelled the team to its first playoff appearance since 2013.

“I am extremely excited to be joining an organization with as much history and prestige as the Wings,” said McComb. “I would like to thank Paul Day for the opportunity, and I look forward to working with some of the best players in the world and work to bring a NLL title to Philadelphia.”
