Wings Fall To Rochester In Game 2 Of 2018-19 Season

Rochester’s Goodleaf saves 50 Philadelphia shots to lead Knighthawks to victory

ROCHESTER, NY – December 29, 2018 – The Philadelphia Wings competed in the second game of the 2018-19 season against the Rochester Knighthawks.  Despite a strong second half, the team fell to the Knighthawks 13 to 9.  Chris Cloutier, Brett Hickey, Vaugh Harris, and Blaze Riorden contributed offensively for the Wings.

Rochester got off to a hot start with a 5-0 lead at the end of the first period.  Cory Vitarelli and Cody Jameison played big rolls for the Knighthawks with three goals apiece. The Wings found some life in the second as they played much better on the defensive side of the floor and netted two goals to make it 8-2 at halftime.  The Wings continued to fight in the second half but could not convert despite their 59 shots throughout the game.  Angus Goodleaf had a strong performance in goal for the Knighthawks that propelled them to the win.

The Wings play on the road again on January 4th against the Toronto Rock at 7:30pm.  They return home to the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, January 12th to take on the Georgia Swarm at 7pm.  The US Lacrosse Convention will be in Philadelphia that same weekend.  The entire week leading up to the 12th, the Wings and US Lacrosse will work together to grow the sport in the Greater Philadelphia area through youth clinics and events. They will encourage fans to donate gently used lacrosse sticks to help benefit local youth athletes at the Wings game on the 12th. Tickets to the game can be purchased on wingslax.com or by calling 215-952-LAX1.
