Liam Byrnes selected by Panther City Lacrosse Club in 2021 NLL Expansion Draft

PHILADELPHIA (June 30, 2021) – Philadelphia Wings defenseman Liam Byrnes has been selected by the Panther City Lacrosse Club in the 2021 NLL Expansion Draft. As the team prepares for its inaugural season, the Panther City Lacrosse Club selected 13 players from around the league to build its roster for the 2021-2022 season beginning in December.

Byrnes departs the Wings after spending two seasons with the club. Averaging 17:00 minutes in floor time, Byrnes appeared in a total of 25 games with the Wings, totaling two goals and five assists. Byrnes was originally acquired from the Georgia Swarm on August 24, 2018. Prior to joining the NLL, Byrnes was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year in 2016 with the Marquette Men’s Lacrosse team.

The league last held an Expansion Draft prior to the 2019-20 season, as the New York Riptide and Rochester Knighthawks formed the beginnings of their respective squads. Additional ways for PLCC to build their roster heading into Faceoff Weekend (December 3^rd-4^th, 2021) include signing any free agents starting on August 1^st, the NLL Entry Draft (Late Summer/Fall 2021), and player trades with other teams.
