Growing the game starts with us. Wings community initiatives focus on creating a diverse, inclusive and equitable space for athletes to learn and thrive.

Police Athletic League Clinic

Ben McIntosh, Mitch Jones, and George Downey lead a clinic for 40 children with the Police Athletic League covering the fundamentals and intro to lacrosse.

Trevor Baptiste and Liam Byrnes visited Special Olympics of Pennsylvania to go over stick skills and shooting drills.

Girls Intro to Box Clinic

Led by Matt Rambo, George Downey and the U.S. Women’s National Box Lacrosse Team, Ginny Cappicccioni, Wings hosted a free girl’s lacrosse clinic as a part of continued efforts to grow the game of lacrosse and support the increased interest from female players in box lacrosse specifically. Equipment was available on hand to welcome local female athletes looking to take on box lacrosse for the first time.

Celebrating Women in Sports

Prior to the Wings’ Women in Sports theme night, the Wings were joined by Ally Mastroianni, player for Team USA lacrosse; Germaine Edwards, Program Manager for Black Women in Sports Foundation; Rennee Washington, ABC Sports Reporter and hall of fame collegiate athlete; Autumn Lockwood, Philadelphia Eagles Sports Performance Coach and the first black-woman to coach in the Super Bowl; and Tina Sloan Green, the first black-woman to play for team USA and coach collegiately. This star-studded list of guests held a Q&A panel discussing their personal experiences and the importance of women in sports.

Leveling the Playing Field

After hosting an equipment drive prior to the game against Albany, Mitch Jones and some members of the Wings the front office visited Leveling the Playing field warehouse to sort equipment that will go to athletes and teams in need.
