WINGS ACQUIRE DREXEL UNIVERSITY GRADUATE AND TOP 5 NLL GOAL SCORER BEN MCINTOSH

PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 3, 2020) – The Philadelphia Wings have acquired forward Ben McIntosh from the Saskatchewan Rush in exchange for forward Josh Currier and the Wings’ first round picks in 2020 and 2021, according to head coach and general manager Paul Day. The Wings also received two second round picks in 2020 and a second round pick in 2023 in the trade.

 

“Ben is a top-notch player and person,” said Paul Day, head coach and general manager of the Philadelphia Wings. “With two previous NLL championships, he knows how to win and will bring that knowledge and skill to the Wings. He has Philadelphia roots as a Drexel grad and is dedicated to being active in the Philadelphia lacrosse community and growing the sport in this region.”

 

Selected by the Rush as the first overall pick in the 2014 NLL Entry Draft, McIntosh was named 2015 NLL Rookie of the Year, a member of the NLL All-Rookie Team, and winner of the 2016 NLL Sportsmanship Award. In 2018, McIntosh set a career-high and tied for fourth in the NLL with 46 goals, tied for third in the league with 13 power-play goals, and tied for first in the NLL with three game-winning goals. He finished 2019 tied for the fourth in the NLL with 41 goals and tied for 10th in power-play goals with eight. With McIntosh on the roster, Saskatchewan won the National Lacrosse League Championships in both 2016 and 2018.

 

A resident of Philadelphia and Drexel University graduate, McIntosh scored 191 goals and 328 points at Drexel University (NCAA) where he earned Honorable Mention All-American status plus First Team All-CAA Conference and CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award.
