Greg Downing

Greg Downing is another mainstay of the NLL and brings a ton of experience with him to the Capital Region.  Originally from not far away Auburn, NY, Downing played collegiately at Fairfield University. where he was a three-time All-American.  He was named to the Tewaaraton Trophy watch list ahead of both his junior and senior season, while finishing his career with 141 total points on 101 goals and 40 assists.

Downing broke into the professional ranks after being drafted by the Los Angeles Riptide of the MLL in 2007.  During his time in the MLL, Downing was a two-time All-Star and two-time Champion.  Downing was also drafted into NLL by the Boston Blazers in the 2007 Expansion Draft.  After stops in Minnesota and Colorado, Downing joined the organization in 2019 and has been a key piece of Coach Clark’s defense ever since.
