Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Wings Professional Lacrosse team today revealed a jam-packed promotional schedule that will highlight their nine home games at the Wells Fargo Center, kicking off with the Welcome Home Opener on Saturday, December 15 at 1 p.m.

To celebrate the team’s return to the Philadelphia, the Welcome Home Opener (December 15) will feature a banner raising honoring Wings legends Tom “Hollywood” Marechek (retired no. 42), Dallas Eliuk (retired no. 35), and Jake Bergey (retired no. 66). All fans in attendance will also receive a free magnet schedule.

In conjunction with Lacrosse Weekend in Philadelphia, the Wings will host US Lacrosse Night (January 12), an entire evening dedicated to the sport of lacrosse. A special ticket offer is available for fans to purchase a Lacrosse Convention FanFest ticket and a Wings ticket for one low price of $23.

To commemorate the rich history of the Wings, the team will host Throwback Night (January 26) highlighted by players wearing throwback jerseys, along with appearances by Wings alumni and promotions throughout the entire game that will take fans back in time to the decades of the past. The season-long party continues with College Night (February 1), Valentine’s Game (February 9), and Local Heroes Night (February 16).

The Wings will host their first esports tournament series, culminating with the championship event taking place at Wells Fargo Center prior to the Wings game on Fortnite Friday (March 8), powered by N3rd Street Gamers. Beginning November 16 through March 1, fans can participate in Wings Fortnite Friday at Localhost Philly, the N3rd Street Gamers local esports arena. Each week, fans have the opportunity to drop in, grab gear, and battle it out in Fortnite. The nightly top score will earn Wings swag, and the player with the highest score at the end of all events will be entered into the Wings Fortnite Championship.

On Friday, Nov. 9 the Wings introduced a new official team mascot named Wingston, the first professional mascot whose head spins on its own. Wingston’s nearly 7-foot frame is covered in soft golden fur with a feathery tuft of fire-engine-red lax flow on the top of his head that swoops from side to side while he makes diving plays at the net. Wingston boasts golden wings on either side of his delightfully oversized head. Dotted with three large jewels, Wingston’s tail is his defining feature. The presence of the red, black and silver jewels is in homage to the Wings rich history, representing the three reincarnations of the team, dating back to 1974.

The Wings recruited character branding consultant Dave Raymond when undergoing the extensive process to develop Wingston. Raymond also consulted on the creation of the Philadelphia Flyers new mascot, Gritty.

The Philadelphia Wings officially bring professional lacrosse back to the City of Brotherly Love during the Welcome Home Opener on Saturday, December 15 at Wells Fargo Center. The Wings return to their official home at the Wells Fargo Center for the first time since the 2014 NLL season, after Comcast Spectacor acquired the NLL expansion franchise in 2017.

To celebrate the Wings’ return to Philadelphia for the 2018-19 season, a limited number of $18 home opener tickets are available. Single-game tickets, along with season tickets are on sale now through WingsLax.com, or by phone at 215-952-LAX1.
